When people first walk into my little photography studio in Bristol they're always so surprised - it's not at all what they expected! My studio is a small wooden structure on my driveway next to my home. You'd never know from the photos I'm able to create in such a small space.
When I first started my newborn photography business back in 2014, I was working from my dining room. I'd move my table against the wall, lay out the small number of cringey knitted outfits that I owned and set up my posing beanbag and lights.
After a few years of doing this, I decided it was too much work setting everything up and packing everything away every time I did a shoot. So I decided I wanted something a bit more permanent.
In May of 2017 my husband, Lee and I removed our old, ugly asbestos garage on our driveway and replaced it with my purpose-built photography studio.
The erection of the studio only took one day, so it was amazing to see it come together so quickly.
Lee and I hired a company to put the structure together and then completed all of the insulation and plasterboarding ourselves. We then hired a company to come in and plaster for me.
Once the plastering was complete, I painted the walls and hired a company to come in and install some lino.
My studio is a very small space so I've had to find ways to make use of my storage as best I can.
Lee and I built a storage bench for me to pop bits and pieces in and then I popped to IKEA for some shelving units.

Despite my studio being small I'm able to create such beautiful artwork which I'm incredibly proud of.
